Hi good folks of NSC,

I am going to buy an Apple Macbook laptop (I am usually a PC man but have been using an Apple at work and prefer it now) and am considering a refurbished one from the Apple store. Has anyone any experience in buying refurbs from Apple?

Any advice would be much appreciated!

Not personally but you can buy with complete confidence. Often the products are not returned at all and might just have a dented box or similar.

All purchases cone with full Apple warranty and support and its a very sensible route to take if they have what you want.

Hi good folks of NSC,....

Bought two, one for self, one for daughter. 2009 and 2010 Macbooks. Extend the warranty -- (Applecare) it''s an extra $249, but while you're covered, and especially if there's an Apple store nearby, most everything that can go wrong is free, and 24 hr turnaround.

My MacBook Pro is a refurb. Only difference is it comes in a plain cardboard box. There's even an argument that refurbs can be better as they have gone through more quality control checks and so any problems will have been addressed. Plus I've read of people who've actually got a higher spec than standard (where, for instance, the original customer ordered with a RAM upgrade) but not sure if that's true.

Let me just say, my Macbook Pro has made every laptop/computer I've had in the past look absolutely shithouse. I love it.

I bought a refurb Time Capsule. Would not know it is, lookes like new. Would have no concerns about buying refurb again. Comes with full warranty as well. (bought on line through apple web site - they have a specific refurb section)
Go for it
