Couldnt find good info on this anywhere so turning to NSC. Boring request but help appreciated.

Trying to set up home office and want to know what is the best way to connect a laptop to two monitors,

When I go into the office I want to connect up the laptop easily to those two monitors and use a separate bluetooth/wired keyboard to type rather than the laptop.

The laptop has one HDMI connection, 2 USB connections (type A) and 1 USB (type C)

Each of the monitors have 2 x HDMI, 1 x VGA

Whats the optimal way to facilitate the above?

Cheers

I run a second monitor via a USB to HDMI connector, literally plug and play.

You may struggle to get two separate screens and bypass the laptop screen

USB C to Dual HDMI Adapter

Sent from my TFY-LX1 using Tapatalk

Thanks - is this different in anyway from getting a docking station for the laptop (apart from being cheaper)

For a more precise answer it may help for you to mention what laptop model you have. You can go through the process like others have said to get a USB-C to HDMI convertor but at the same time it might be worth seeing if you can get a proper docking station for the laptop. My work laptop has a Thunderbolt socket so I use a Dell Thunderbolt docking station but you can also buy cheaper Kensington USB 3 Type A version (like the 3600/3650) which mean that other devices can be permanently connected to that, reducing the wear and tear on all of the sockets.

This is it. Powered by USBc port if that makes any difference.

We had a similar laptop here and if you get a USB-C type connector you will need to get a power-injector USB switch like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Adapter-Supports-Passthrough-Connected/dp/B0893452HR as if you don't charging may be an issue if you buy a cheapo USB-C to HDMI connector. As such, a USB-A type docking station may be a more appropriate solution unless you get the aforementioned power-injector USB-C connector, or USB-C hub with hdmi out and power in.

Note: looking at that laptop on the website you might be able to use a cheapo USB-C to HDMI connector IF you use the normal (non USB-C) circular power connector, but I guess you might need to buy that separately as you said it comes with a USB-C charger

Note 2: That example is for a Mac laptop, but you can get ones that work with PC laptops too.

For multi screen properly you’d need a docking station or something ‘active’ rather then a splitter I think
