Any tips would be appreciated... old "gaming" laptop has finally conked and I can't be arsed reflowing the CPU on it again - I've got every games console so I'm looking at a new laptop.

Requirements: Lightning fast, portable - thin and light, excellent battery life, able to play simple games - Bejeweled, Fruit Ninja, the new Broken Sword next year.. nowt taxing

So far, this beauty is winning the race; Sony VAIO SVT1311W1ES.CEK 13.3-inch Laptop (Silver) - (Intel Core i5 1.70GHz Processor, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD, Windows 7 Edition Home Premium): Amazon.co.uk: Computers Accessories

is £625 a good price for the spec and has anyone had an Ultrabook they love/regret?

It was this make I chose from the specs, but at a much cheaper price, something like £500 perhaps even less. (But this one has a SSD but that means it has small capacity). Then I went into PCWorld to see the model for real and decided against it. The keyboard is so near the screen I did not like it for that sole reason. And my bad eyesight. And it looked plastic.

Look at the review. It says it has a noisy fan and that is a big No!

NB: On a Dell computer there is a black space between the keys and the screen.

In the end I bought a secondhand Laptop off Eli and I will buy a new desktop when one comes up that I like.

Get a Mac.

Or... my PC one came from Dell and I was really pleased with it. Still going strong after 4 years. A bit slow granted, and with Vista, but I've never had any problems with the machine.
