I’m really surprised this thread is relatively short but guess it’s a reflection of my age.

I don't think its your age, I think its the relative lack of credit given to writers compared with performers. Fame means that the internet will save it's meltdown for when the likes of Diana Ross go, forgetting that she didn't even want to record 'Where Did Our Love Go' and would have remained the worst singer in the 'no-hit Supremes' if it wasn't for the masterful craft-work of HD&H. Its the way of the world, but musos know and appreciate the incredible talent involved to create stuff like this:

Another great one gone. Seeing Freda Payne on the list reminded me that H-D-H wrote all those hits in only 5 years!
They left Motown in 1967 to form the Invictus / Hot wax record labels and then had more hits with Freda and Chairmen of the Board.
