Hysterical nonsense. In the last two seasons he’s played 54 league games and three this season. So it total he’s played 57 matches and missed 23.

Exactly this. He's here as much for what he offers off the pitch as he does on it. As a role model for others with his attitude & professionalism, he's clearly very supportive of the team even when he's not playing, as evidenced by his Instagram posts recently.
