Ah yes … I’ve been doing a combination of things … even walked from Shoreham Beach to the Amex for one game. Sometimes get bus into Brighton and walk from there. Depends what’s happening on the day really. But haven’t forgotten your very kind offer

Good grief. This thread has been ruined. One poster has an understandable (but in my view misplaced) issue with another and then a baying mob of yah-boo bullies surround the two, going 'fight! fight!', like all the fat and weak boys in the playground when we were kids.

I expect Corbyn and many others who desire world peace would agree with Swansmans argument but might make the case in a slightly less aggresive manner. I like his argumentative nature its entertaining and he writes extremely well for someone who I assume is not a native speaker. He is of course wrong about MMT being boring. Everyone has their faults

It's an interesting question. Ken Livingstone famously did this in 2000 and was then welcomed back into the fold once he'd won.

Would Corbyn have the same reach as Livingstone had? I don't think so personally. The difference is that KL was a passionate London man who didn't aspire to a major position in national politics in quite the same way. He was a high profile agitator but was never interested in being PM.

I don’t think Corbyn ran for the leadership because he wanted to be PM, he just wanted to reorganise and change the power structure of the Labour Party

From what I’ve read of him as a constituent MP he is very hands on, deals with a lot of peoples issues and cases personally and puts long hours in at a very grass roots level

Think London Mayor would appeal to him

Can you imagine the UK government's reaction to Russian aggression in Ukraine if Corbyn had become PM ... a bit of mild condemnation while also blaming NATO and of course no military aid, no standing shoulder to shoulder with our international allies .... instead, offering to send one of his illustrious cabinet comrades (Abbott or Starmer?) to mediate ...
