Featured on radio 4 this morning talking of his upbringing in Southall during the riots and relaying a story of when the SPG were arming skinheads with shields and batons to attack the West Indian communities during the street disturbances. Apparently he was born Ian Roberts but changed his name after tracing his anchestors back through the slave trade to Ghana.
The interesting part though was his thoughts on a statistical fact that 6 out of 10 black males (from Carribean descent)are now in relationships with non black females and he thought that this was not integration but assimilation and this watering down of his culture was a shame and he now mourned the loss of his community and its original politicalisation.
