To be fair to Chaigneau Magoo said.

Hardly a great reason considering Chaigneau was halfway across the channel tunnel last week.

:glare: we never do stick with keepers, i thought maybe this was the time we had a fit keeper who we could give a realistic run too.

if you try and be 'nice' tho players, u lose

Magoo mentioned that Shane-O was needed for his kicking today.
Surely FDM can get this part of his game sorted with some focused coaching.

Sadly we've been saying that for the past 5 years. It seems his distribution is really going to hold him back which is a shame because on goalkeeping abilityalone he is excellent.

That's been said for years but although it doesn't go out of play every time (it used to :lolol: ) It's still not great!!

I also wonder that with Henderson now on the Villa bench and a new manager at Southapmton who may sanction Nieimi's departure, we need to discover wther Chaigneau has got what it takes, because if he has then we may be able to move some valuable pennies towards getting hold of outfield players we desperately need. Why not try it in a match we're odds on to lose rather than find it later on when the result may be more important.

To be fair to Chaigneau, I thought he had a good game today. Once he got over some early nerves, he was fine - made some good saves, and his distribution was excellent, far better than Kuipers. McGhee doesn't really seem to rate FDM - I'd keep Flo in against Coventry on that showing.

He did spill a couple of shots though. Might develop though.

i thought he did as well as kuipers would of done, apart from the few drops. and hios distribution, especially throwing, was first class

Chaigneau wasn't bad, good in second half but couldnt catch the ball to save his life.

His kicking seemed no better than Kuipers though:glare:

except it stayed in the ground - and that one when he launched it to the other end of the pitch, and mccammon nearly got something from it was immense

Apart from the fact he was landing them on the edge of the Southampton box, you mean? Not a bad idea considering our lack of fir midfielders.

I think it was far better - none shanked into touch, none not even making halfway, always seemed to at least head for the player he was aiming for, and his throwing was excellent, reminiscent of Henderson and Roberts.

Alright alright, point taken., nothing against the french bloke at all. I've just always felt that Kuipers has always been exaggurated since that debut, but clearly i haven't got a clue:)

Roberts was the best keeper tho. Chagneau was quite good yesterday and that dipping shot he stopped was awesome, i was just waiting for the net bulge after he hit that!
