Sunderland star awaits relegation
Sunderland striker Kevin Kyle says the Black Cats are now all but relegated, after the defeat at West Ham.
With 14 games left, the Premiership's bottom side are nine points below second-from-bottom Portsmouth, and 16 behind the nearest safe position.
It's mission impossible, I don't think anybody can argue with that," Kyle told The Journal newspaper.
"We've got to perform like we did at West Ham to show the fans we're trying. Hopefully we can go down with a fight."
The 24-year-old Scotland international is out of contract at the end of the season, having spent 18 months on the sidelines, and he knows time is running out to try and convince manager Mick McCarthy to offer him a new deal.
"I need to get some games, get some fitness and get ready for next season," he said.
"My contract is up this year so I've got to try and get another one and that is what I'm going to try and do."

Maybe he needs to prove to Mick McCarthy that he can do a job in the Championship next season cos that is where they are going to be.
Can't think of a better way that scoring a hatful of goals for us
Any Thoughts?
