Andrei Kanchelskis will spend the weekend continuing to consider Albion's offer of a three-month contract.

The former Manchester United winger, based in East Grinstead, has been training with the Seagulls since the start of the month.

The offer has been on the table for some time, but Kanchelskis has attracted interest from abroad including America and Swiss club Wil.

Coppell said: "The ball is very much in his court. We have made our final offer.

"If he decides to sign he will be an asset, if he doesn't I suppose we haven't lost anything because we haven't seen him play yet."

Not being funny, but I'd be off to Switzerland like a shot. He's got nothing to prove in this country, won the double, and the lifestyle's amazing out there. If Steve talks him into this one, my respect for the bloke will go up even more.

Probably only til monday as I understand the transfer deadline closes at 31/8.

Do we want someone who considers us to be last choice and may well be peed off at not getting a bigger club? It's not as if he can draw bigger crowds or anything is it?.

Was really pleased when I saw that we might sign him but have cooled on the idea recently.

How committed is he likely to be given that he is probably holding out to see if a better offer comes his way?

He doesn't , apparently, need the money and has nothing to prove. Is he likely to make up for what he has lost in pace in effort or will he be expecting balls to his feet, in which case he has probably chosen the wrong team!

We keep hearing how settled his family is in Sussex though, Tooting. That would be an odd decision to make, to either leave his family behind or uproot them to Switzerland, if they want to stay here as much as we've been hearing.

I'm still slightly hopeful.

At the foot of the downs
I was under the impression that he left Saudi and came back coz he missed his family and home. Hows playing in Switzerland or the States gonna make that better.

I'm begining to tire of Andre, he seems to be messing us around some what !!!

Interesting.

In my opinion, I would say he is not good enough for Premiership football, but could do a job in Division 1. I think he would be very good in Division 2. I think he will sign, eventually.

Oh no not Switzerland and the lure of the famous ladies of Zurich????

We might as well give up now!

Starting to turn into a will-he, won't-he saga now. It's clear he see's us as a last resort should nothing better turn up for him. If this is the case, how commited to the cause would he be??

Should he sign, if he really was commited, he could give our midfield some real variation & spark. My gut feeling is though, it could all end in tears?

No big deal if he doesn't sign, as Coppell said, we haven't lost anything.

I'd be more disappointed if we let FDM go...

It would be a bonus but if he doesn't sign OGH played there 2 seasons ago when we won the league so it's not as if we have a weakness there. We could more use a left wing forward or a quality striker to feed leon

I heard a vicious one that DK is holding out on AK's demand for ten pairs of Levis and 500 Marlboro to be sent to his folks back home. DK has apparently offered two pairs of Wranglers and 200 Royals, but AK says that ain't gonna cut much ice in the motherland.
