West is BEST
I didn't see them at all. Don't misunderstand me...I didn't mean they should stop the protesters specifically, but just some policing to ensure no injuries all round.
If they’re not called, it’s unlikely they’ll show up.

Hopefully for all the kids they are poisoning too
You actually think everyone who drives a car is selfish and poisoning children? Actually? Or just making a point (bizarrely badly)…?

I’ve made an effort to avoid this thread but that has to be right up there with the ‘we’re all going to be dead in a year’ one from earlier in it… Extreme much?

however you can bet the drivers will be the ones prosecuted for assault or causing an injury.
Do you not think people assaulting others should be prosecuted?

do you not think that everyone should be accountable for their actions then?
They should, and motorists assaulting protestors is a lot worse than what the protesters are doing, and deserves to be treated as such. Vigilantism is not acceptable.

Well, to be equitable the law should be upheld and admonished evenly.

Let’s start at the beginning of a possible event.
Road protesters block a road = obstruction.
someone calls police, who may or may not attend promptly
Road protestors stopping motorists from going about their legal business
Motorist get enraged and (hopefully) speak with and request protesters to move.
Road protesters ignore requests and have no idea what damage their actions may be having. Possible hospital appointments, possible job interviews, maybe needing to get to collect a child who could be left unsupervised by the delay (add in any other example you like).
Motorist get more and more frustrated and antagonised.
Motorists try to drag protestors out of the road.

and on from there. You can easily see how bumps, knocks, fisticuffs can happen.

Protestors actions, I would have thought is arguably ‘behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace’. If that did prove to be so, then the counter is the person dragging them out of the way was acting in a way to stop the said action.

Playing devils advocate here, could protestors who directly delayed a motorist from say job of work and thereby causing a financial loss to motorist be accountable for a damages claim?

By my take on this is if you’re stupid enough and daft enough to enrage people to such a degree that they become apoplectic don’t be surprised if you get hurt.

Ah, victim blaming. Surprised it’s taken this long.
