no - never thought that he should be and don't want him back.

Definitely not. Overrated. Fine defender, but most of his 'heroic' last ditch tackles are because he was woefully out of position in the first place. Unforgivable break of trust between him and a fellow team mate.

I'd rather he didn't even get picked, let alone be captain.

Very this.

Unfortunatley with Rio and Gerrard both out, I'm sure he will be re-instated for the Taff game, and won't surprise me if he then keeps it as Fabio has no b*ll*x at all (and doesn't care as he's ut of a job soon).

On the plus side, he is no longer good enough to be considered an automatic choice for England, or even Chelsea, so hopefully his days are numbered. I don't have strong feelings about many players or teams, but he is one nasty person.

fair point, Plooks, its an English thing apparently. other countries pick captain by most experienced/oldest.

great leader, decent if limited defender. anyone who says otherwise is going against 4 managers at one ofthe worlds richest clubs. no problem for me, though i too would rather have Gerrard.

In Fabio we trust.

JT is always the leader when England play anyway, he leads by example, so it doesn't really matter but I'd back him to have it back.

Really don't give a shit who's captain. And I'm struggling to remember why he was stripped of it in the first place, all that comes to mind is that he shagged someone else's bird. (Can't remember his name, left back, played for Man City). I'm sure there must have been more to it than that? Did he beat her up or something? Providing it wasn't something like that then I don't see what the big deal is in him becoming captain again, God knows none of them are particularly pleasant people or good role models so it might as well be him as one of the other thugs/drunkards/adulterers.

I really don't care. I'm not that fussed about captaincy at any club, and my interest in the england team has waned somewhat in recent years.

Well, the cheating allegedly caused a split in the locker room, he got a box at wembley at a special discount rate then sold it on the black market, enlisted a marketing agency to cash in on the world cup (not entirely sure why that is so bad, personally), I remember there being something about selling tours of somewhere he didn't have a right to.

Thanks. I think the place he was (allegedly) selling tours to was the Chelsea training ground. I'm still struggling to give a shit though, I think Capello was right to take it off him in the first place and deprive him of the chance of lifting the World Cup, (don't laugh!), but I'm not fussed if now he sees fit to give it back to him. Like yourself and Brunswick my interest in England has waned slightly and consequently I'm finding it hard to get worked up one way or the other.

I couldn't agree more, I have lost any enthusiasm when it comes to England, I'd much rather watch Cricket or even Rugby Union.
