Joe Dolan out of his depth

It is apparent what a hammer blow to our survival hopes the loss of Adam Hinshelwood was. On the evidence so far Dolan looks like a lower division stopper whose limitations and lack of pace will be severely exposed at this level. Whilst Coventry may have been his first game for a while he was caught out many times, and having seen tv was arguably culpable for a couple of the Preston goals.

Millwall and Stockport fans rated him. Didn't see him tonight obviously, but he looked fairly average at Coventry.

I'll copy and paste a match report from Cheshire on the seagulls msg board - he said Butters Blayney and Dolan came out with credit.

Yes it was as bad as it sounds.

About 500 of us and we sang throughout to the bitter end - but maybe did not help our cause by singing anti Prosser songs from the start. But what can you do when yet another penalty is given - was it a penalty - have to see the replay but I certainly do not think the infringement warranted a sending off!

After that the teams confidence just drained - it is getting a farce - they were frightened to get stuck in for fear of a booking or sending off. It was very noticeable if you are up with the conspiracy theory that a Preston Player slapped hands with Prosser after the second goal who was clearly happy for them almost as if the bribe was paying well!!!?

Conspiracy or not this was a very poor performance. It takes two teams to make a match and the Preston fans were quite noisy all round the ground to start off with - but as the match went on instead of singing about going up and the like they got quieter and quieter - I think we simply bored them.

It was too easy for Preston the only Albion players with credit were Butters, Blayney and Dolan, who maybe kept it to just three goals. Six games on the trot and I cannot see us wining again this season. Where is the team of Spurs, Sunderland, Sheffield Utd and Leeds games all played during the last three months. Even at Coventry there were times when two teams were playing, tonight there was only one team playing and it was not the blue and white stripes.

The words of Ronnie Moore back six games ago when we were looking okay - about us going down are really haunting us - maybe he is part of the conspiracy - but I have to believe we are now a very poor team, out of confidence and out of luck. I do not think we even had one shot on goal - Sorry every one but we are doomed.

Goodbye Preston, Hello Blackpool!!

I'd say it's a bit early to make that judgement as you've just seen him in one game. I too have only seen him in one game and I thought he did fine at Cov. But we'll see.

I've seen Dolan twice in 4 days now. I don't believe he's out of his depth. He was subbed tonight for 2 reasons (IMO).
a) He is well short of match fitness and much credit should go to PNE for their movement (esp. off the ball - they ran us ragged - esp when we were 10) 2 games in 4 days was too much for him.
b) MM wanted Virgs in at CB to bring Trolley on up front.

I agree with Blaney, Dolan and Buters having a good game. I would add Virgs for the 2nd half at CB - solid. But in the first half as a lone striker, won nothing in the air, couldn't hold the ball and looked very isolated, lost and lonely.

Trolley's attitude was very poor, he may as well not been there. Knight looked disinterested. Probably due to a) being on the bench to start; b) knowing that he won't now be playing for two weeks, and c) can't wait to get away from B&HA

He's not doing much for his reputation then is he? What's up with this 'shop window' he's in. And even if he's agreed to go to Ipswich, they aren't going to be impressed by him, are they.......

I wish he'd go now, so if we do go down we can at least say at least every player TRIED

Only observation ... he can't seem to kick a ball ... every pass, clearance or cross ball ended up out of play ... he just seems to hoof everything

If he was good enough for this level, surely he would be in Millwall's first team squad.

Only time will tell if hes any good, buts its a very risky, or possibly foolhardy, strategy to bring in a player who hasn't played a championship game for almost 3 years, at this crucial stage of the season. Unfortunately time is one thing we dont have.

A handful of games for Crawley followed by a few games for Stockport doesn't really give you much hope that hes going to be effective at this level when the team is under such pressure.

And he does look really slow!

He was out for a long time with a bad injury and needs to get his match fitness. How many on here were slagging of Currie after a couple of games and he ended up being superb for us once he got himself fit. Give the lad a break, he has joined a team playing with no confidence and needs to settle in.
