The world's favourite rent-a-quote ex-ref has had his website suspended after making anti-Catholic remarks.

Winter, who describes himself as a Middlesbrough and Rangers supporter, has had his site suspended by 123reg after making remarks about altar boys being abused.

Oh dear, players and refs; if it's not Twitter, it's their blogs

I used to work with Jeff. The comment doesn't surprise me in the slightest and is one of the kinder things he has said in his time.

What was the comment?

Seeing as alter boys were abused by members of the Catholic church, and it has been admitted by the church that they effectively brushed knowledge of this under the carpet, dealing with it with the church rather than taking what tehy knew to the police, then I do wonder exactly what he'd have said that was over and above what has been reported.

It's a fine line between censoring offensive remarks, and preventing the freedom of speech that we all hold so dear.

I follow Gab Marcotti on twitter- he linked to this Winter piece this morning, suggesting (hoping) that Winter's blog had been hacked. Having read it, if it wasn't hacked, Winter was pissed when he wrote it.

It included the line; "dress wearing, Nazi, kiddy fiddling protector. FTP"
(FTP = f*** the Pope, should anyone NOT realise).

He also calls Celtic Park the "Glitterdome" in a different blog. Glitter in this instance refers to Gary, the infamous nonce.
