I am surprised that nobody has mentioned the future of Robinson with Adams at helm. I think Jake could be a very good player and is when he has lots of confidence. I remember standing near the dugouts against Forest and Calderwood remarking to Butters (who was a sub) that JR was a real threat and a great player. What do people think? Now that we seem to have our wings covered and are in for a physical striker, I fear the end may be near for the 'south coast rooney'...

Cannot see Adams standing for the type of player he is, he'll not tolerate anyone that can't handle a tackle, he likes his players HARD, suspect it'll be Robinson's last year with the Albion

Agreed.

Bottles too many challenges and too light weight, cant see where can possibly fit into the team.

If anything it might change a perceived attitude that he has. I don't see how Adams can change him as a player. Wilkins has a very good record of nurturing talent and Robinson has failed to progress at the rate he could have done.

Possible back up for Murray or Forster if one gets injured??

Other than that can't see him getting regular football here under Adams

Maybe but would have thought Adams will find a big physical player if one of those gets injured (possibly someone like Ibhere from Orient).

Could be a back up for McLeod or Cox maybe though.

Needs to really prove himself in training no matter what or i can see him on the transfer list come January.

Can you see Adams signing another striker? Goals weren't really an issue last season it was the midfield imo

He seems to be the sort of player that always impresses in training, but can't do it on the pitch. Certainly the best striker of the ball in warm ups pre-match.

Goals will be a big problem if either Murray or Forster sustain an injury. I still think Gatting can make it at this level, but we could do with someone who HAS done it as this level and regularly.

I really thought JR was going to make headway this season. He looked very good against Fulham and did not dodge a single tackle. Disappointing.

But would Adams keep giving him time in the hope he gets it all together? I don't think he will tbh.

I would say Gatting will be ahead of Dixon now due to his more physical stature but gotta agree with you we need cover from someone who has done it regularly at this or championship level

The Jake Robinson who came on and changed the game at Leyton Orient, is a fantastic player who would be a huge asset to any League 1 squad. Its a shame we don't see more of that, but with a new manager in charge, JR has a new chance to show he really can do it.

I really hope he can, as in tiny flashes, he is the Albions most exciting player.

Watson? Brooker?

But of course, it's been 3 months since the last "Robinson bottles everything and so is shit" thread.

Yes, on the basis that if one of our first two get injured we are in serious trouble. Goals were only not an issue because Forster managed to stay fit!

Robinson is a bottler though, hence the threads. I can't remember who it was against but at home this year he bottled a challenge with the keeper who was 30 yeard out his goal. If he has gone into the challenge and won the ball (for which he was favourite) it was a certain goal or the keeper was off. REALLY annoyed me that did.

In that case i can see him releasing Dixon asap

And i suppose Forster was looking quite tired by the end of the season

He only missed three of four games I think and we did look totally lost without him, hes nearly 34 so we cant expect him to be playing 50 odd games a year.

Playes like Dixon/Gatting aren't the sort of players who can fire us to the playoffs if Forster/Murray are out for 2 or 3 months IMO.

Gatting i can see coming good if he gets the chance this season but I concede a long term injury would screw us over a lot.

Maybe another striker is on the cards but do you go big target man or deft with feet and pacy?

If that happened I am sure that MA would bring in a loan signing.

I dont think Gatting haS enough about him, very slow and didn't see willing to bust a gut. I was impressed with the 10 minutes of Gargan away at Bristol Rovers. Seemed willing to run his nuts off and had a bit of presence about him.

I would probably go Big target man, gives the two wingers someone to run off.
