Tonights Argus reports that Iwelumo is sorry that he isn't still with us. He has refuted suggestions that he was asking too much money and has said that the only reason that he didnt sign was because he wasn't offered a relocation package (what does this entail?)

He also says " The fans accepted me and made me feel really at home and welcome. Also said that he thought McGhee & Booker wwere tremendous.

money towards house moving down here etc,
which is fair enough as house prices are alot more down here than in stoke.

Yet again Dick Tight to blame

Opinion. Im not glad to see him go. Easier on the wage budget so we can bring in a better player. Also, Im glad we didnt pay for him to move... bastard, footballers expect sooo much.

I can see a certain point on relocation packages but football players are well paid.

History now - next striker please :shootself

My company didn't pay me an relocation costs when I moved to Sydney - I even paid the airfare. I paid because I WANTED to go. He clearly didn't want to move that much - its only Stoke to Brighton ffs

We are better off without him in my humble opinion.

If we wanted him that much we would have paid his relocation. After his generally abysmal performance at Cardiff, I think McGhee recognised he might make a good sub to come on ten mins from the end (a la Hoydonk (sp??!)) for Holland in Euro2004. However, you don't pay relocation packages for someone who's only going to play 10 matches a season plus a few mins here and there as sub.

Smart decision McGhee.

in the days post bosman with players on the dole all over the place its a bit rich, he was offered a 2 year contract after all

from what he said he reads these websites so chris....thanks for helping us get promoted but was it worth trading brighton for Germany for the sake of a few quid towards moving?

i hope it works out for you but you got to be in it to win it and brighton certainly win it over the last few seasons

What would have been earning? £3k a week? Surely he can afford a little place in Bewbush or the like?
Anyway, like you say, thanks for the hard work, now we will sign a better player to replace him.

Clearly the club didn't think he was worth it. Each week we've not signed someone is more money saved - I'm sure that's part of what motivates the club in this.

Of course, that was also what motivated the club in the failure to get a new manager saga of two years ago, and that didn't work out for the best.

Im pretty sure the club owns property it rents out to players to help them settle - none of these available? (not that BHAFC is a property magnate or anything)!

Also, surely relocating to Brighton would be cheaper than relocating to wherever the smeg Aachen is!

Reading this, I just think that Lumo is playing the nice guy, and trying not to burn his bridges.
