The cricketers will not let away fans in. The bouncers will want to see your ticket for proof

The livingstone arms at the end of the street going to the away end is ok.
They dn't do food but loads of chippys etc near by

Is there a decent pub in the vicinity of Gillingham.

No.

Travelling there for 2 seasons the nearest decent pub I found is the Half Moon at Fairwap in the Ashdown Forest (just in Sussex I believe).

Really is a dump that pub, no nice bitter (even though its in KENT) and the food on offer seemed to be big trays of burnt roast potatoes and deep fried onion rings nestling round an inner glass of tomato ketchup.

A kind of a grease platter.

The locals were LAPPING it up though. I saw one gentlemen actually go for the tomato ketchup FIRST with his finger.

Why is it people from Gillingham look so ill ?

Bit harsh! The owners put some munchies out-free of charge which they didn't have to do. Seeing as the pub was full of Albion fans when the trays arrived at the bar, I think it was the Brighton fans who ate it all. Especially the middle aged couple (Brighton fans) who decided to take a whole tray full outside for the 4 or 5 of them to eat which really impressed the doorman.

There is no pleasure to be had in Gillingham. That pub with the shirts on the ceiling is an utter DIVE - I felt like I needed a shower as soon as I left the place. Although its relatively nearby, I just don't bother with that place as an away trip any more. It is one of the most grim, depressing places to visit in the country. The whole place is an absolute khazi.

Indeed and still the only good thing about the place is the road out
