Is it me or are we the worst cup team...

Has there ever been a team so good at 'concentrating on the league'?
With Saturday's FA Cup game v Coventry just around the corner, is anyone expecting a win? Granted we're not exactly hitting the highspots at the moment, but I want to know if there is a more ineffective team in the FA or League Cups in the country?
We seem to get knocked out at the first hurdle of each every season, without the excuse of having played higher oposition (Spurs excepted). Every season seems to bring the same early exit for us - why is this?
I've supported Brighton properly since 1990 and can't remember any cup runs of any significance (and unfortunately significance means 1 win), with the exception of the League Cup in 93/94 or arond then, when we beat Leicester.
So, will this year be different?

I started following the stripes in 1990 too, its a shame we've never seen any decent cup runs, considering judging by my birth date I could well have been conceived when we beat Sheff Wed to book our place in the cup final.

Remember Liverpool getting taken to the wire in 1990/91, then Man Ure only beating us 1 - 0 in both cups in 1992/93, so it hasn't been all bad, BUT then there were the defeats to Kingstonian, Sudbury Town, Hereford (who were by that game non-league), Lincoln City, and finally any defeat to Borient is embarassing.

Perhaps we're due one this year.............Maybe not :drink:

Amen to that

For sure. Although disappointed by the defeat in that game I came away thanking the Lord for League status. God bless Robbie Reinelt

We also got beaten by Preston in 2001/2 - they were a division higher then.

But yes, a decent cup run would be nice.

We got to Wembley. A lot of teams have never done that, so we're not the worst.

We have not been past the 3rd round since 1993 - this year that might change

I'm always optimistic before the cup , thinking it could be us who gets to the 1/4 finals. The other day I dreamt we beat Coventry then beat Pompey on the TV at Fratton park .. . woke up before 5th round.
Who did we get in the cup 3rd round under coppell , this must be the first time in a long long time we have a potentially winable 3rd round tie

A Will Packham debut, no?

Wasnt that Preston under Peter taylor and preston were Div 1, I dunno, all the defeats fade into a blur, but we were div 2 under Taylor so must have beat teams in round 1 and 2 .

I rememer the Aldershot 6-2 and then going out to Scunthorpe,
