Major was a good man. But, could you imagine him being elected leader of that party today 😲
Met him at a Lord's Taverners Lunch at Chichester, as you say a top man, and of his time, would his integrity survive the political arena of today?

He's all part of the Westminster 'sliding doors' scenario.

If, which is half of life, Kinnock hadn't made a pillock of himself at the Sheffield Rally and Labour had won in 1992, would we have ever heard of Mr Blair?

100% to all of it.

Major, Hague are exactly the kind of Conservatives they need to rediscover. The current cabal are even less appealing than Sunak.

Mods it is imperative you reinstate the middle east thread. Grow a pair and don't allow yourself to be bullied into keeping silent. Do not let the genocide supporters who have threatened you win !!!!
Oh. Another twat who games the probationary period by making posts that are relatively harmless (though in your case, during your probation we had already laid odds on how long it would take you to make posts that would result in a permanent ban), and then when out on parole immediately gets nicked for further twattery.

Twat.

Past crisis in the US, its over

I think we forget how (comparatively) young America is as a state. Older democracies have often had to learn the hard way as to why you make your institutions strong and not easily prone to coercion or infiltration.

America is f***ing around, and while it’s going to take some time for the other shoe to drop, they are eventually going to find out.

Americans invented democracy doncha know :jester:
Mind you, they got there before the UK and most of Europe, if you consider representative regimes to be democratic (which the Founding Fathers categorically didn't).
