Spoke to a good friend of mine today who is a seaason ticket holder at Ipswich and knows a lot that is going on there and he informed me that Gus and Tarrico are the number one choice to replace Roy Keane should he get the boot.
Now I know it is hearsay at the moment as Keane is currently still in the job but the natives are not happy there and if they get a bad result against Norwich tomorrow it could be the end for him.
This one does actually have me worried though as in many ways it would make a lot of sense for them and Gus. They are a big club and currently a high Championship team with serious ambitions to get promotion to the Premiership ideally this season but certainly within a couple of seasons. They have a good ground and large fan base and an owner who is putting a lot of money into them, they have spent serious money on players. They also have a reputation for playing the sort of football Gus wants to play and with Tarrico being a legend there, there is a bit of a link. This on top of Gus' frustrated comments about signing players this week has just got me a little bit concerned.
It probably is just another load of crap rumour and hopefully Gus wouldn't be interested in them but I am going to be hoping for a big Ipswich win in the East Anglian derby anyway!
