iPad Air and ITunes...help needed?

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help.

I have just installed iTunes to a new laptop, however on connecting my IPad it is showing in explorer but ITunes not picking it up. I have taken off and resinstalled iTunes to no avail.

Pulling my hair out and I cannot find the fix

Yep I agree but doesn't help, I have grown to hate apple

Have you tried plugging the ipad into a different usb slot? Have you tried a different cable? Have you tried turning the ipad off an on again? Does it ask you if you trust the device? Go to the control panel and 'uninstall' to get a list of all the programmes on the computer, is 'Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS)' in the list? (It should install with iTunes)
