Between Friday and the end of July, so effectively till the new footie season and just before cricket takes a break for the circus in August, we have a HUMDINGER of a Test series against India.

Personally, I would call India as favourites for this one. No Broad, no Anderson, and no feeble opposition.

Leeds, Birmingham, Lords, Manchester and The Oval host matches with jolly old Nottingham missing out. This is a tough series for England before their thoughts turn to the four yearly pummeling down under. The question would be whether or not they can build a win to gain some nice miss-placed confidence for that tour, or whether India can gain their first full series win here for 18 years. From memory, India have only won two series in England during my years following the game (1986 & 2007).

Are we confident ?

India’s batting weakened with no Kohli and no Rohit, but I suspect they’ll be too strong

I’m going to the first couple of days at Headingley. I think we are in for a very tough time to be honest. Don’t think our bowling attack is anywhere near good enough

I’m a bit pessimistic but maybe not quite as much as others above. I also don’t think much of our attack, but the Indian batting line up is very inexperienced. I expect them
to struggle in “English” conditions (Leeds, Manchester) and do better in less helpful conditions (Lord’s, Edgbaston, The Oval). So expect it to be tight. I’m more worried about our batting vs Bumrah to be honest.

I take it they haven't picked the 14 year old who's been twatting runs for fun in the IPL?

England to win the series

India to average twice as many runs as England for their first wicket.

Both sides look well matched. It should be a cracking series.

The series will be decided by who's young players hit the ground running.

I'll call it for us ..... just ..... but the bowling injuries are a worry

Me and my oldest boy have tickets for the 4th day of Oval test. First time going to a test match, watch the game finish in 3 days now.
Oval tests are great. Not going the year but we normally do a day.i recommend the Black Dog pub near Vauxhall station. Busy but good beer, well run(quick service) and the food smells excellent. Though it is now also quite full with Taylor Swift fans oddly
