I've been trying to buy a replacement mobile from a firm based in West London and have had nothing but trouble. It took me five attempts to actually find somebody who would sell me the phone of my choice.

Today I took a day off work (which will cost me) only to find out that rather than delivering today as I was told I'll be getting tomorrow (or so I am now advised).

I'm afraid the crux of the problems seems to be the fact that most of this company's employees are of Asian extraction and frankly most of them clearly have a problem speaking English.

Needless to say the order has now been cancelled and my phone contract has been terminated.

Is the problem they can't speak english, or that they're like 90% of companies in this country and couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery?

Nice idea crabbers but as I am working ON Portdmouth Naval Base the delivery driver wouldn't be allowed in. I made this point very clear at the time of purchase but clearly to no avail.

i get the same problem but with american express credit card and hsbc. i am no racist but trying to sort out money problems over the phone with asians is a nightmare bad line and bad english. i got so fed up with it i closed my account with american express

Have to agree - I had to change the dates of my holiday with Virgin and both times I called I got someone with a heavy Asian accent - obviously another export to Mumbai job. It took an age to get across what I wanted. All I wanted was to move the whole holiday forward 7 days, lock stock and barrel. He started getting quite irate when I asked for clarification of the babble he was coming out with - we are talking about over £4000 worth of holiday here and I want to get it right, especially as they charged me £100 "admin" cost to move it.

Didn't mind in the end though as for some magical reason, we are £150 up on the deal as the prices seem to have dropped. Must be the hurricanes that are putting people off Florida in September. :clap2: :clap2:

That's a good point Caz as so many firms are moving call centres to the Asian sub continent in search of cheap labour. I believe BT plan to do this soon.

Whilst it's all fine and dandy to bring employment to a very poor part of the world the logistical problems that the likes of BT suffer from will only be increased at the expense of their customers.

Ah - my mistake. Bangalore.

There are a variety of companies located in Bangalore including ICICI who employ thousands of workers to field subscription calls. Virgin holidays have set up a pilot project where a trainer has been sent to teach people to sell holidays who have never been to Britain or the potential holiday destinations.

And Meades_Ball - I hope that statement is in jest because, if not, it is very insulting.

I am a racist but I try and hide it behind my leftwing veiws and semantics, I call the colonisation and Balkanisation of Britain "Multi-culturalism". I hate white people, which includes myself so I grovel to anyone I consider "Ethnic" by debasing myself/country/people in front of them. I dont care about the consequences of my actions, so what if it causes resentment and Racial tensions .A race war would be cool as a lot of white people would die and we deserve it because of our history.

Come on then, clever man. Please explain what that has to do with people struggling to understand the accent of someone for whom English is their second language.

Its the title of this thread I was poking fun at Cornhole.

If companies employ cheap foriegn labour and lose customers over it thats their look out. apparently people like talking to jocks in Call Centers. I think the whinging haggis munchers should be shipped ou to Calcutta personally, but thats because I'm a racist bigot.

Blimey - a semi sensible response! :lolol: For me, it as a sign of the times we live in that people have to start with the phrase "I'm not a racist but ..." because someone will undoubtedly label them as that otherwise. It is a phrase that is misused and can be a feeble defence against someone who is actually racist. But in this case, it is no way a racism issue. You wouldn't put people with speech difficulties on a call centre so why do it with someone for whom English is a second language.

Took the words right out my mouth - such a post shouldn't require a preemptive disclaimer to preceed it. This has nowt to do with race, but suitability and ability to get a job done!

The word But means an exception, in this case I'm not a racist but this is an exception. Your either a racist or not.

It maybe bad English/politics as holding a few racial veiws doesn't necessarily make you a Nazi.

I want to kill belloti but I'm full of shit.

Worthing
Had a nightmare when installing my BT Broadband. I ended up having to call their help desk, spoke to 3 or 4 different people, all of Asian origin, only to find out I was speaking to the call centre in India.....Extremely poor service and ended up paying an IT specialist to come out and sort it for me.....Nightmare and extra unneccesary cost.
