If you where a Referee for a home game at withdean, what would you do to make sure that Brighton won????

I would give a penalty every time Leon Knight went down in the area???

Just think we would win about 15 - nil :lolol:

I'd rather be a referee at SmellWorst with Palace at home needing to win...

Having seen the far from sumptuous changing accommodation provided for match officials at Withdean, I'm surprised that the Albion get any penalties at home, ever. No referee can run on to that pitch feeling well disposed to us.

The one on Saturday was yet another we can add to the "bloody awful" list. That challenge from behind on Leon in the 2nd half which left him poleaxed was an absolute disgrace, but of course its Leon Knight, so we don't give free kicks cos he dives every time, doesn't he.

Oatways booking was a joke - he slid in from the side and won the ball, it wasn't even a free kick, let alone a yellow. Hardings booking was a "robust" challenge I suppose, but again, he won the ball. That and a multitude of niggly, bewlidering decisions for both sides, and the ref did his level best to spoil what I thought was a pretty decent match.

Everyone keeps saying refereeing is a very hard job. Well that ref made it look nigh-on impossible.

I don't know where the linesman was looking because it almost directly in front of him

Some refs tell their linesmen NOT to flag for fouls, but to leave all decisions (apart from offsides / throw-ins obviously) to them. It's always frustrating when you see linesmen making no decisions when a foul happens right under their noses, but if its one of the refs which has said "leave it all to me" then there's not a lot they can do about it. The ref sets the agenda as to how he wants to referee the game.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those refs on Saturday.
