Identity Fraud

I can't believe I forgot to tell everyone about this...

Just before Xmas I was just about to finish off my Xmas shopping, when my card stopped working everywhere.

After much investigation I found out that my bank had blocked my card because someone was spending money on my account. :censored:

The funny thing is I've been a card holder for years and NEVER had this problem before. It was only when I went through bank statements that I traced the fraud back to ONE clear event...Purchasing my tickets through the seagulls website.

The fraudster had tried to spend about 700 - 800 quid, but luckily my bank blocked them after they had spent about 200 - 300.
I'm still in the process of trying to get it all back!

It's funny though that there was absolutely no history of fraud on my account EVER before or since. But that fateful night I booked my tickets online, that very same night, someone hacked into my account.

Needless to say, I buy my tickets in person now.

I just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? On the the seagulls site or elsewhere?

If it has happened on the Seagulls site on more than one occasion, maybe something needs to be done :glare:

If this is the case then the club need to be told.

If the club does not conform with the new PCI DSS standards then they will face a maasive fine.

might be best for your bank to investigate and perhaps take it up with the club rather than you anonymously posting damaging half hearted suspicions it on here.

The fraudsters don't always use the details immediately after a transaction... ..some wait weeks and months before they get hold of/use the details

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
There was a previous thread about having to fax the club shop details of credit/debit cards including the security number on the back of the card and the resultant potential security risks. The answer wasn't very helpful ("send a cheque" - remember them?)

I renewed my season ticket online and have posted details of my card to the club shop for away tickets, and not had any problems.

I do know two of my colleagues have had their bank accounts hacked. Neither of whom watch football or have bought tickets.

Hope that helps.

funny i got the impression our tight fisted radio star only got his tickets cut price on the ticket exchange :lolol:

obviously working as a DJ serving our buggers hole web footed yokels isn't as lucrative as on might imagine.

but if you are convinced its online through the club shop do what i do and phone the ticket line

I'll post what I like! :censored:

It's not a damaging statement, and i'm not accusing anyone. I'm just stating facts, not half hearted suspicions.

I asked for people to share their experiences on the subject. So your post has no relevance.

I was just trying to highlight what could be potential problem for the club.

Some people on here!!
