I think people may be suprised if they saw this from the angle level with the goa line - it's tighter than people think. Due to the angle that pic means nothing.

Yep.

In fact I'm not sure it even looks over in the picture, it's hard to tell with the blurriness of it though.

There weren't huge appeals from their players, that says something imo.

Most of us in the West Upper at that end of the ground thought it had crossed the line. Still never mind eh.

From the family stand it looked in. Ref never gave it. It will never appear on the record books as a goal.

End of.

I don't think it was in, from photos I've seen it looks like it didn't fully cross the line and also on the video in sky sports all you can see is a Brighton white sock not the ball.

Another thread on this subject? Shall I start another on how the red mugged us off at St Mary's?

Just pointless! We won 3-0!

If it did cross the line, and i'm not saying it did judging from that photo, then it starts to make up for the dodgy reffing decisions we received at St Marys earlier this season.
The photo isn't conclusive imo, how high is the ball in the air, etc... needs to show the view in line with the goal line really to be conclusive.

Not seen all the replays yet - but from looking virtually down the goalline from the family area Block 1, my gut feeling at the time was that it was definitely over. Oh well. About time we got some luck.

The pics in the photo gallery on the saints web site are much clearer. Cook's foot is just behind the line and given that the ball struck his ankle/boot square on there would have been insufficient space for the whole of the ball to have crossed the line (although part of it clearly did). A very close call but the right one. No goal.

No they didn't. I didn't and no-one near me did. It really pisses me off that no-one (including most linesmen) seem to know what over the line means. It has to be the WHOLE of the ball. The above picture proves nothing.

where are these photos?

Saints website. Whole ball needs to cross, Lino needs to be sure it crossed and the ref needs to give a goal. I would have been well pissed if they hadnt given it to Brighton but then again I'm bias. I was right on the line and I don't think the whole ball crossed, maybe half and it looked more in than out but that's what it looks like when a goal is half in.

Shows you what a difference the officiating decisions going your way can make. It looked clearly in from my vantage point in the West Lower, but as has already been said, after what we put up with at St Mary's I'm having trouble feeling too bad about it. Similarly, Lambert got what Burnley's McCann should have got for a very similar offence. I genuinely think these things have been making a big difference to us and was a bit worried when I saw D'Urso had the game, but today, finally, it was our turn to get the rub of the refereeing green.

White lines and Brighton/Southampton matches, eh?

Refs can't seem to see where they are in relation to the ball.

Penalty given that was outside the area at St Fairies / goal that should have stood at the AMEX.

Apparantly it 'all evens out'...

From WSU I thought it had deffo crossed the line. And od you know what? I f***ing hope it did. After all the dodgy shite we've had off ref's recently it's about time we got one in our favour.
