Come on you Spaniards!

You know that, boot on the other foot, the Tea Caddys would NEVER support an ENGLISH team over ANYONE else in the world and that INLCUDES the argies and Germany.

I'd like Depor to win I think, but only because Shelbourne in the group stages of the Champions League would be frankly embarrassing

Absolute bollocks. A huge number of Irish football fans count an english team as the first team.

Firstly, I refer you to Liam, a user here. Officer of Shelbourne, and an Albion fan.

Secondly, I refer you to the other Irish Brighton fans here. Me, Shegull, roz, etc.

Thirdly I refer you to the hundreds, nay, thousands of Chelski, Man United and Liverpool "supporters" in Ireland.

I'm also confused by your use of the term "Tea Caddys". Googling it finds nothing, so I assume its some weird london-area insult for Irish people.

Tea Caddy is simply rhyming slang for 'paddy'. Its not even slightly offensive. I am 'half' Irish so I dont have a particulary anti Irish view. I am an Englishman who takes great exception to every other 'home' nation cheering when anything English gets beat when the vast majority here really get behind all of the other home nations.

Do I cheer when England get beaten? No, only if its Ireland who beats them. England aren't my country, I really couldn't give a damn about their national team. And that would be reflected by the vast majority of people in Ireland.

However, we have to put up with *constant* 1966 references. Good god, people, it was nearly FORTY years ago. You won it. OK. Good. No need to keep on for all eternity.

Have to agree with you on that one. I annoys me too and it was us that won it!

Watto, the reason why the Jocks, Semtexes and Sheep Worriers get so excited when England lose is the same when 'big' clubs such as Man U, Chel$ea and Spurs lose. People are sick of having them rammed down their throat all the time, and everyone likes an underdog (see Kelly Holmes threads!)

My mum lives in Wexford and she wanted us to beat the French on the grounds that they don't wash and have funny toilets!
