Why? They already have a ground.

Lewes has a ground. I nice one at that. It isn't too small either. What would be the point?

i dont think we need to add any more incentives to prove to jp that we are a good club. All we have to do now is prove that the other sites are not viable.

Wouldnt say no to them though if they need the ground

Conference standards are pretty much the same requirement as those needed to enter the football league these days and I doubt the Dripping Pan could be brought up to those standards.

I beg to differ.

taken from fanzone:

The pitch itself is generally in very good condition and we rarely lose matches due to the weather. It is in a natural "dip" surrounded by steep banks which give spectators good views from every side.

Lewes have just applied for Football Trust money for total redevelopment so hopefully by next season we will have better facilities.

Yeah better facilities, at a push maybe Conference facilities, but clubs with any ambition going into the Conference are going to want league standard facilites and there is no way that ground can achieve that. But I am sure you will tell us all different, so over to you.

You just said the standards are virtually the same?

I'm not trying to pretend I know it all because I don't. I also have no objection to them ground sharing Falmer if they want to.

I just don't think the Dripping pan is that bad and wouldn't tkae much of an upgrade to bring it up to scratch.

Does anyone know the details of what would be required at the Dripping pan in for it to mean league requirements?

UB you seem to have a problem with someone having another view to your own?

There are differences on the standards and the minimum requirement is less for the Conference, however when clubs upgrade they generally get it up to league standard, which is what Aldershot did last season when they came up. It would seem pointless for Lewes to throw cash around if they then had to move if they ever got to the league. However I suspect that Lewes are way ahead of where they expected to be, due to somehow winning all those play off fixtures last season.

I do not have a problem with other opinions, what I find frustrating is the dismissive attitude people seem to have at the moment, but if you cannot beat them...

What's dismissive about saying, what's wrong with the Dripping pan?

IMHO they have enough room to develop a nice little ground there. If I were a Lewes supporter I rather have my own ground that could generate a bit of atmosphere. If they played at Falmer there would be 1,500 supporters in a 23,000 capacity stadium.

I'm still not sure what is required to get the dripping pan up to scratch? They are right next door to the station and have some parking available. (they could use the station car park and the leisure centre car park if necessary). Is it just a case of putting in enough seats? How many do they need?

It is seats, having enough stands, entrances etc. I think the set up of the ground, the grass banks etc may make it restrictive.

I would have thought the natural shape of the place would help? Still I'm no architect!

How many seats do you need? If Withdean an qualify....

Think they need at least 500 seats they currently have 400. They also have to have seperate facilaties for home and away fans, plus be able to keep them apart.

So they basically need 100 seats, a tea hut and a fence?

I agree with these points, 1,500 in a 23k ground is too much but what we could push is using Falmer if Lewes draw league opposition in the FA cup ! like a couple of seasons ago when they drew Stoke and had to switch the tie.
