Taking some time out. Take a deep breath. Now, visualise the perfect Christmas day with your family. A day where your mother-in-law doesn’t criticise every aspect of your parenting, for example. Or where your other half stays awake through the entire meal. Where your children stop hitting each other long enough to eat the meal you’ve spent all day cooking. Can you see it? Did you enjoy it? Did it feel nice? Great! It’s never going to happen. But now you have a lovely memory.
