Chris Hughton felt Albion could have beaten Wigan today.
But he was more worried about how they ended up empty-handed after working their way back on to level terms.
The Seagulls went down 2-1 at the DW Stadium, having wiped out a half-time deficit thanks to a Dale Stephens goal.
Boss Hughton admitted he was bitterly disappointed afterwards.
He said: "After we scored the goal, I thought we had a really good spell.
"Probably if any team looked like they were going to go on and win the game, it looked like it was going to be us.
"We conceded a really poor second goal and then it was always going to be tough.
"We changed it, threw a lot of bodies forward and then you are looking for the little bit of quality that's going to get you back in the game.
"They certainly did not have any more chances than we did.
"Just on those pivotal moments they managed to get their goals and we didn't.
"So I'm really disappointed, particularly after we got back in the game."
