Chris Hughton expects Lewis Dunk to "definitely" be part of his plans at Huddersfield on Tuesday.
But speculation about the centre-back's future will continue after he was left out today.
Dunk was an unused substitute in the 2-1 win at Fulham.
His place was taken by midweek signing Uwe Huenemeier, who enjoyed a good debut.
Asked about his decision to leave out Dunk against the club who want to sign him, Hughton said: "It's just part of the job I do.
"Sometimes you've got to look at games and, if it was a different type of game, then maybe I'd look at a different type of combination."
Asked if he expected Dunk to be available to him at Huddersfield, Hughton replied: "Yes, most definitely."
