Chris Hughton admitted Albion were undone by a moment of quality at the Amex today.
But he felt they had chances to change the course of their 1-0 defeat to Norwich City.
Bradley Johnson scored the 62nd-minute winner for the Canaries.
But Joao Teixeira twice went close to a breakthrough late in the first period after the Seagulls recovered from a testing start.
“They have got a lot of good footballers and they are in very good form at the moment.
“But after that period I thought we were excellent.
“I thought we had the better chances and, if we had put one of our chances away towards the end of the first period, then I think it is a different story.”
Nathan Redmond teed up Johnson’s winner and Hughton said: “Probably the one little bit of quality they showed in the final third got them the goal and it was always going to be tough after that.”
