How much longer for the 'Ask the Club' forum?

Got something to say or just want fewer pesky ads? Join us... 😊

Anyone that knows me knows that I am 100% and have always been 100% behind the current board.

However, given the news that's broken over the last day or so, and the backlash that has followed from some quarters, is anyone else a bit worried that the club will pull the plug on this latest initiative?

Don't get me wrong, I think the forum is an absolutely BRILLIANT idea. The fact that someone actually from within the club is answering questions, quickly too, is fantastic.

I'm just slightly concerned that the board may now adopt a seige mentality and withdraw back into themselves.

I really hope this doesn't happen, and hoping to be proved wrong. :)

Why would the club adopt a seige mentality? Their appeal for funds today is an example of the board's honesty and desire to connect more with the club's fans. To do this, stuff like Ask the Club becomes even more important from their point of view. So fret not.

Border country.East Preston.
To be honest though, they're not the most forthright of Boards.
So they may go quiet.

Agrred, but compare them to 91 other clubs and I think you will find we are in the top 10. How many others have fans forums (admittedly the latest is overdue) and 'Ask the club' features on an independent website?

The problem is that the information given by insider is a typical press release answer saying what they want you to hear. So in effect you are no better off than having not asked the question in the first place.

You could actually be correct there after today's announcement - totally unexpected to say the least.

I don't regard it as that shocking that fans who've forked out £7m to keep us going since we got rid of Archer/Belotti/Stanley are now asking the overwhelming majority of fans to contribute £2m. Good for them and a very sensible move.

I think the club would have started the forum on NSC as a means of improving communication with fans as they knew they were about to launch their fund raising appeal.

As the NIMBYs have been told by Prescott to "put up an alternative site or shut up"!

All those who say the board should sell out etc; where has all the money gone etc etc; can now either do something constructive to help or shut up themselves!

I feel rightly or wrongly that the answers given by Insider are the answers that you would expect a man in his position to give.

One question about the p-lay off money he said' I am not sure but I think it was about 1/2 million. He should be able to give a definitive answer IT WAS £550k or £495k. But he choses not to.

The ask the club has only been going about two weeks since I raised a question about a rumour. Which in general was right!!

Would the press officer be in a position to know the EXACT amount the play off final raised?

And, in the context of an internet message board, WHY ON EARTH DOES IT MATTER if it was £550k or £495k ??

Perhaps the vague answers are to do with the questions being asked.

I asked a direct question and got exactly the answer I wanted.

I've noticed that many questions are now being repeated, though. Doesn't anyone read the damn thing before posting questions?? This will obviously get harder to manage as the number of threads increases, though. Can we have the search facility back?

From Insiders other postings on the board today, and from his answers to repeat and vague questions... I have nothing but admiration for what he is doing, in very trying circumstances.

A search facility would be a good idea... or perhaps a bit of more active 'moderation' - if we can't search for ourselves, perhaps a mod could filter questions, returning them to the original poster if they are repeats or too vague or offensive ?

I know people don't like this - 'Mazi mods' comments etc... but I think it might help preserve the existence of the forum and not waste valuable club resources at such a difficult time.

Appreciate that thanks. Rest assured Ask The Club is here to stay.

I'm getting bored of it - it seems far too constructive. I might pull the plug on it later.

lol :D

Bozza you need a notice at the top asking potential posters to quickly browse to see if their question has already been answered (already lots of "see previous thread..." style posts from insider...wasting his time when he could be answering something else). Or bring the Search facility back....why its not in use is beyond me! ???
