As you can see if a bit of a virgin on here so no rough stuff!
I followed the Albion from 1970 saw the Napiers,Templemans, through to the binnys(legend)Powneys,Wards ,Maybanks to the dark days were there was about 2,000 of us on a rainy Friday night against i think lincon.
I with my three kids used to have the pick of the South stand and i my kids used to wear their pink NOBO shirts to school when anyone wearing an Albion shirt was considered a Leper.
I took them to near enough everygame at Gillingham,
catching the coach was an adventure for them and we always had a laugh but as a parent with three kids i paid one game at a time as that is all i could afford. Then came Withdean a great big influx of season ticket holders(which i couldnt afford four) which meant that bloody queing for tickets just to see (what was then)
pants footie.Started missing games due to lack of tickets etc and thought f**k it i cant be bothered anymore and started supporting my local club Lewes. My kids now wear Lewes shirts i love the atmosphere of Ryman football, you can drink on the terraces everyone knows each other and never a policeman in sight. My question is about Falmer, dont you think that the other 20,000 in our heyday or at worst the other 6,000 have found other clubs to watch and have lost interest in the Albion, how can you attract us back?Cheap and i mean cheap family tickets or what?I would never stop following Lewes now but would be interested in watching my "first loves"at Falmer if Lewes werent playing. So do you think Falmer would be full and if not how do you get us old fans back?
If this is a stupid posting please ignore ,its just something i wondered about!

You haven't left! You just can't get in! Why else are you posting on a Brighton chat site?

It's not a stupid posting at all.

Unfortuantely until we are playing at a decent stadium and not at Withdean it's going to be very hard to entice families back to watching the Albion and the longer this goes on the harder it's going to be to get people involved with the Albion which is such a shame.

Tickets available for 3rd April against Hartlepool. Buy one and try it.

How are you going to get to know people unless you try it?

I think there's a percentage of Albion fans who may have been lost for good, if like Lewes Cliff, they have been priced out or simply unable to get tickets for a few years. But if we get Falmer, at least the likes of Lewes Cliff will once again have the OPTION of going to watch the Albion again, and in time would hopefully join the fold once again.

We'll also benefit from an influx of a new generation of Albion fans who will go along to the new stadium to see what all the fuss is about, get bitten by the bug (hopefully not from the catering) and become lifelong Albion fans.

It'd be wonderful to win back the fans that we've lost over the years though.

What would you really rather do......................watch Lewes in the rymans league.............or visit Falmer Stadium and watch the likes of Notts Forest or West Ham v the mighty Seagulls.
When and If we get the stadium I am in no doubt many fans will flood back.

Give your kids the choice and see what they choose.............I think you already know the answer.

As an ex-Lewes boy I'm delighted that your family are supporting the Mighty Rooks. I hope Falmer will also give them the option of supporting Sussex's only professional club as well.

If you can't get into Withdean, why not try the odd away game ?

There's nothing better than seeing the Albion away at a new ground ( for me at least ).

Let's face it, you're not going to Lewes for the football, you're going for the social occasion.

But if you go to an Albion away game, you don't just get the social occasion, you get a ( usually ) good exciting game as well !

Thats why it would be great to get to Cardiff so those who have stopped watching the Albion will have a chance to start again and get the bug.

Division 1 football is not all bad????
