Hove Beach - ugh!

I was looking forward to getting in the sea for the time this year and shot off down to Hove beach this afternoon.

It was absolutely disgusting ! Filthy brown/yellow water with a layer of thick scum* on the top.

Loads of people on the beach and the lawns but hardly anyone enough crazy enough to get in the water.

I wonder if it was like this all along the whole coast?
What was it like in Brighton? or further along to Shoreham?

It was opposite King Alfred as well. Looked revolting, but only seemed to be to the right as you looked at the sea, next to the groyne.

I overheard someone suggest it was SAND.

Same a few days ago in Hove and was today in Shoreham but absolutely no excuse for not going on you wuss! Water quality was fine once you'd waded beyond the surface scum at the shoreline - bloody cold though.

Shoreham wasn't pleasant either....we were at widewater today and it was a bit pongy and looked pretty nasty.

Not as stupid as you may think - when we were in in Shoreham today and ran our hands through it a lot of it was churned up sand from the sea bed.

I swam this lunchtime at Shoreham with Mini in tow. It was bloody freezing and my balls were like chick peas but at least first swim of the year done and dusted.
