“More importantly, I want the team to play exciting football. I like attacking football, I don’t like grinding out 1-0 wins. We have a reputation at Brighton for playing attacking football. Micky understands that and he wants to play that way too.

I have given up listening to Dick as we all now know he will say whatever suits him in at the time.

do we?!

our last two promotions under mcghee and taylor were based around strong defences, the season we stayed up in the championship was because of defence and even adams' first team was initially based around defence with the added bonus of having the best striker in the league

He did go on to say that it was no co-incidence that we had had some great strikers whilst he had been at the club and listed Zamora, Knight, Forster and Murray.
So it had nothing to do with the managers then.
Wonder who Dick is telling Adams to go for next ?

Didn't he employ Barry Lloyd? It might have been at the suggestion of Wilkins but he paid the wages. Before that we didn't have a full-time scout at all.

Did he say it had nothing to do with the managers?

If the manager targets a player, the board still have to approve the purchase. And if the chairman likes the idea of a player he is fully entitled to say to the manager that he wants him. The manager can, of course, say that he doesn't think the purchase is a good one and the chairman can take that advice or not, as he chooses. It's not the manager's money.

I have no idea how the discussions went between chairman and manager in these purchases or others, and nor do you, but don't let that stop you making things up to suit your biased agenda.

So what you are saying is you agree that the chairman has final say on which strikers we buy according to ability and not price which of course is quite rightly solely at the chairmans discretion.
