And that is the crux of it, the people running it are so inept that the system doesn't work as it should.
That isn’t the crux of it. The crux of it is that football is subjective. Been done to death on here and a great article in the Guardian about it. VAR will never deliver the objective’right’ and ‘wrong’ you crave. It should be canned because it is ruining the game.

Football may very well be subjective, but facts aren't, the people supplying the so called facts keep getting it wrong.
But I agree, VAR should be canned, especially after today's corrupt performance.

VAR should be canned. Not because it's not good tech or not a good idea, but because the f***ing clowns we have running it can't be trusted.
The clowns running it are referees. In a room with tech. Referees.

Who do you think should make the decisions? The players. The cat?

Yep and that's where the problem lies. "Closed shop" officiating over itself, unwilling to put itself in front of the cameras explaining their decisions.

Not much wrong with the technology, just the people running it.

Can't believe that penalty was missed, just a decision made that the error wasn't "clear and obvious", which was clearly (and obviously) bollocks.

VAR largely works fine in the CL and worked mostly fine at the WC. The problem is PGMOL and the fact there is so much money in the PL it is clearly corrupt. You have a bunch of very poorly paid middle aged blokes sat in a truck making multi million pound decisions. It would be amazing if it wasn’t corrupt.

Maybe it's time to bring in European refereeing teams for PL matches.

Couldn't be any worse than the shitshower we currently have.
May reduce subconscious bias.

There is another thread about the "apology" in the spurs game where they state this is the 3rd reason for an apology to us this season for "honest mistakes" with VAR.

Solly vs Villa - No Pen
Estupiñan vs Palace - Offside
Mitoma vs Spurs - No Pen

these are the official honest mistakes from the PGMOL, they seem to glaze over all of the other dubious decisions and non-var moments that get waved away in real time

Solly vs Villa - No Pen - one point
Estupiñan vs Palace - Offside - two points
Mitoma vs Spurs - No Pen - one or three points
