Playing there for the 1st time on Saturday. Is it a tough course, lots of rough etc ?. Any input would be very much appreciated:bigwave:

Its not a tough course, the course layout isn't very clear and its quite a long walk as it is up and down the hill. Greens are in good condition for a council course.

ok son here goes

1st par 3 aim well left off the tee ........not too left though

2nd par 4 avoid rough and bunkers 150 yeards down the fairway on the left look out for hidden greenside bunkers

3rd up hill par 5 enough said

4th par 4 look out for the tree 60 yards from the tee in the middle of the fairway

miss a few

7th downhill par 5 easiest chance for a birdie again nasty greenside bunkers

9th short par 4 small green croweded by trees

10th par 3 raised sloopey green

12th downhill par 4 reachable in two one for some!!! awful greenside bunkers

13th difficult par 5 against the camber

14th avoid the out of bounds on ditchling road on the right

16th again a good drive will get you close but those bunker near the green will find you out

17th uphill short par 4 although longer than it looks

18th a good drive will be needed this is a tough very uphill par 4

remember you are out of bounds on the fort.

When did you last go? I think all your holes numbers are out!!

I think what used to be the 1st, is no the 4th. You start in the old 16th hole now I believe.

have they changed it again? I was a junior when they built the 'new' clubhouse and started using the par 3, 3rd as the first. That means they now finish on the old 15th green (old old 17th) which is not in view of the clubhouse!!

It has been changed again and you do finish on the old 15th. At least you don't have to finish on the old 18th anymore, absolute killer off the whites tees.

You are correct. They changed the hole numbers a couple of months. So what HB and B has described as the 1st is actually the 4th and 16,17 and 18 are actually 1,2 and 3.

Not too hard a course, but in relatively good nick

I agree. On at least three holes you are aiming at marker poles with no idea where you are going after. And if they have changed the order in which you
play again, perhaps they have put a map on the scorecard which would help.

I like Hollingbury, although I've lost count of the number of burnt out cars left up there, presumably by the "colony of parakeets" (aka pikeys).
Lovely view from the very top of the hill though.

Its one of the physically toughest courses I've ever played. There are some VERY long hills to trudge up.

As for 'best muni', it is pretty decent. Southampton muni is much better though.

Harder than Seaford, the one up on the cliffs ? That was tough - I thought I was going to pass out !

Can anyone who has posted on this thread join 3 NSC’ers to make up a 4-ball for this Friday at the REMF Charity Golf Day.

You’ll have a super day on a lovely course with a great 3-course meal, followed by loads of trophies and prizes and then a superb raffle.

Reply on here, pm me or email me.
