It will only be mobile phone shops in the high street soon.

Oh and pound land and charity shops.

Coffee shops, charity shops, mobile phone shops and bookies will be the only ones left at this rate.

Sad to see HMV go, I worked there for a year after working for their rival across the way at Virgin Megastore for 3. They were good, simple years and I have fond memories of both, now both sadly no more. Shame, actually a bit sad about this.

I have always been surprised Smiths hasn't gone down yet as it seems to sell such a raggle taggle selection of shite but was handy at Chrimbo as their Toyshop was very handy and mentionknig this to a few people, especially Mums, they say they spend a lot in there and rate the place. Odd.

Who buys anything from BHS? They've got to be next.

Poundland gets great business and beats internet shopping for value.

It'll be the shops that lose out to the internet that go. My prediction is WHSmiths.

Why pay £1 for a 3 pack of chocolate bars when the supermarkets do a 4 pack for the same price ?

Poundland is a false economy, when examined, their deals are usually shockingly bad and you'll always get better in supermarkets.

My prediction is WHSmiths.

Not a chance.

The travel bit of WHS easily balances out (and then some) any losses incurred in the high street section - captive audiences at train stations, service stations, airports and the like, and expanding in such locations internationally and domestically.

90-odd million quid of pre-tax profit last year suggests there's plenty of life left in them yet.

WH Smith are the only post office outlet in many towns now , where will all the OAPs pick up their pension money from ?
