1. We got our stripes from 'West Brom', the other Albion.
2. Juventus got theirs as a result of having to borrow kit from Notts County many moons ago.

Anyone else got any more yawn-enducing footie strip trivia?

I'm sure Arsenal's red comes from a Nottingham Forest strip they borrowed or copied in the 1920s.

I think they added the white sleeves to be different.

Leeds used to be blue and yellow until they decided Real Madrid's all white looked more intimidating.

Athletic Bilbao wear red and white estripes and black shorts because the club was started by some ex-pats from Sunderland who were working over there at the time.

I'll get my coat.

It is a little known fact that Crytstal Palace's gaudy red and blue stripes are based on a medieval clown / court jester who used to perform for the nobility at the old Crystal Palace. Legend says he would jump, prance and thrash about in a vain attempt to entertain his audience, who would laugh at the poor wretched fellow for all the wrong reasons. Sadly he eventually contracted gonorrhoea and died a slow, miserable death in front of a paltry crowd.

Portsmouth's first ever kit between 1898 and 1910 was pink...

Actually, if you ask Tim Carder, that is a popular myth. He states in his history book about the Albion that is unclear where we got our blue and white stripes from - and there is no evidence to support the theory that is was from WBA. Sorry.

Blackpool got their tangerine colours after receiving an entire kit on a trip to the Netherlands at the turn of the last century.

Leeds United changed from gold and blue to all white in 1962 in homage to Real Madrid.

Uruguay play in light blue after some businessmen in the 1890s made a trip to South America, and stayed there. They were Man City fans. True.

Palarse used to play in varieties of skyblue and claret and changed in the mid 70s because Malcolm Allison decided to copy Barcelona.

you can really see how he made the link between Selhurst Park and the Nou Camp, can't you?
