Aberdeen enter talks with midfielder Lee Hendrie

Hendrie made only nine appearances in his season with Derby
Aberdeen have confirmed that they are in signing talks with veteran English midfielder Lee Hendrie.
The 33-year-old is currently without a club after leaving Derby County.
Hendrie, who began his career at Aston Villa and has one England cap, ended last season on loan to Brighton in League One.
He had also been on the books of Sheffield United and had loan spells with Stoke City, Leicester City and Blackpool before joining Derby in 2009.
However, he made only nine appearances for Championship club Derby - five as a substitute - before playing eight times for Brighton.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen are thought to have joined Hearts in expressing an interest in Paul Hartley.
The veteran midfielder wants a return to Scotland and is poised to leave Bristol City after a season with the Championship club.
Six trialists also played in weekend games against Fraserburgh and Peterhead.
Yoann Folly, who was freed by Dagenham and Redbridge, Pakistan cap Adnan Ahmed, who has left Ferencvaros, Jeff Smith, released by Darlington, and former West Ham United youth player Conor Okus are all midfielders.
Wales Under-21 international Grant Basey, released by Charlton Athletic, and Robbie Williams, who was not offered a new contract by Huddersfield Town, are defenders.

I'm not really sure why we've cooled interest so much in Hendrie; he's a good player at this level even at 33. I think Poyet preferred Kishishev and only wanted one or the other. Two players in their mid-thirties and both on big money might be overkill perhaps? Especially when Kishishev can play more than one position and Hendrie can't.

Still, good luck to him, easily good enough for the SPL.

Didnt impress u up at Pride Park then Mikey?.

Well, he's neat and tidy, good touch and all that but hasn't got the legs anymore to find the time and space that he needs - The sort of player that seems to get worse the further down the ladder he goes, if you catch my drift? The hurly burly of League 1 (or indeed the chumpionship) is not for him.

And he's a toe rag.

I have to agree with what the above posters have said, he's too light and not up for the hustle of this league. I think he would be average and not worth the wages.

It's a shame really because with a good pre season under Hendrie's belt i reckon he would be quality for us.

Agree, i would of loved to have him back! :glare:

I'll be disappointed if we don't sign Hendrie, presuming his wage demands aren't ridiculous. The matches I have seen so far this pre-season have suggested to me that we could do with someone of his ilk. A central midfielder with an attacking/ creative style. We just look a bit defensive in the centre.

If and its a BIG if.......the money is right then a decent signing.
Ability to play "THAT" pass and open up a defence.

Gus is boss, I bow to his decision but liked Hendrie.
