I have bought a Hitachi PJTX200 to watch TV DVDs etc on. But the problem is that it only plays my Homechoice TV and DVDs in black and white. If i put a computer through it is fine and in colour. Any help desperately needed before todays sport fest!!! Thank you in anticipation

Don't have no TV - I have a homechoice box, a dvd, playstation etc and they all go to the projector which projects the image onto the wall

I would assume the homechoice box is PAL and either the project cannot handle PAL or you will need to adjust the settings.

If you have a TV laying around might be worth trying the homechoice box through that to see if it works. If not then the problem will the the box not the projector.

Stop watching replays of Black & White Minstrels:ohmy:

Does changing the Color or Color Space settings change the appearance?

Your set top box has SCART output only and projector does not have SCART - how are you connecting?

Check the Component menu is correct for RGB or Component video depending on how you've got it connected.

Try a different Color Space.

Give up.

PS Dont break the bulb - you'll need a mortgage to buy a new one!

I would guess you may be taking a S Video or Composite lead off a SCART splitter, and the HomeChoice box doesn't actually support the one you've used. The black and white carrier of them is compatible, so you get a b/w picture.

How are you connected? Is it with an RCA plug (like audio) or a DIN (like an old mouse port on a computer)? And is it being taken off a SCART splitter?

Cheers for the comments. I've tried it with my old TV and it is fine. I am connected with a scart adapter changing it to RGB and RGB goes into the projector. Checked the component menu and it is set for RGB. This projector is suppoed to be the biz and definitely should support this. Playstation adn DVD are also in black and white - only connecting my laptop do I get colour. Any more help gratefully recieved

Are you sure the projector is set up to receive RGB and not YPbPr component? For some f***ing stupid reason the YPbPr sockets are - red, green and blue.

You'll usually get a slightly wonky looking b/w picture from whichever colour line of RGB is attached to the Y line, so this could also be your problem.

Oh, if it is demanding YPbPr theres a wee slight chance the Homechoice box can put that out over the RGB component lines on SCART - its a hack but at least two of my satellite boxes will do it.

If set top box and Playstation and DVD allgive b/w it must be something to do with how you've wired the SCART to the input on the projector. For scart RGB the manual shows the 3 component leads AND a video lead. Don't understand that.

Try connecting your DVD using just video or s-video...

Red video, green video, blue video, video sync? possibly. most component systems put the sync signals on green.
