Im about to spalse hout on An LG or Philips 42" Plasma TV But whats the difference between HD Compatible and HD ready?

I know about sky and HDTV and their prices...

HDTV Ready, means it is ready to accept and display an HDTV signal.

HDTV Compatible means that the TV can accept HD signals, but it won't display in HD quality.

And is there much difference? considering Im not going to pay skys rip off £300 .
The tv will be used for DVDs and Normal sky?

Get a HD ready TV.

a HD compatible will need an upgrade. Its a bit like adding a freeview box to a normal TV

Generally they can look quite shite, as the TV shows up all the imperfections.
