I have iTunes on my PC but haven't yet found anything I want to buy.

A guy in the office said there was plenty to choose from and pointed out more than a 100 Wurzels' tunes as an example.

Give me strength - didn't we get enough of them at Cardiff?

iTunes has been out "for the PC" for a long time, if you mean Windows by "the PC"

As I don't own a Windows powered machine thats more powerful than a snail thats been stood on a few times, I haven't tried it. A don't intend to, as I won't touch anything made by Apple after Steve Job's return to the copy (1997/8). Be it hardware, software or the damn iPod.

True, if you live in the US. But last week saw the launch of the service in the UK.

I agree with your sentiments on Macs though.

I had a look but my computer runs Windows ME, and it doesn't even suppport it.... it's only four years old for God's sake.

My other experience of file-sharing was equally annoying. Bought a single for £1.50, then found it could only be played on the PC. Wanted to listen to it in the car but couldn't transfer it.

Some less scrupulous people might have been tempted to download the same track for FREE in a format that allowed it to be put on CD...... why do the record companies make it so difficult for people to pay for their tunes????

I've had itunes on my PC for ages but have just upgraded to the one you can buy music in the UK from. I have bought one track so far. The exclusive pixies track for 79p, I will not pay 7.99 for an album when I can buy the album on CD with all the packaging for 8.99 but I tihnk its ok for the occasional track.

eeerrr welcome to the wonderful world of 'Upgrading' my friend

as for Buying online music....I shall pass for now ;)

I think people are getting confused as to what iTunes is. iTunes is just a media player, it has been available for Macs and PC's for ages. The latest upgrade does give access to an online music store for UK customers to buy individual tracks.

Personally I wont buy anything from them, even the Pixies exclusive was available to download free from Soulseek within minutes of it being on sale.

Got iTunes, love it. Although if I rip CD's with it I just get a collection of clicks as an mp3, so I just carried on using cdex, which is a superb (and free) ripper.

Haven't added the UK downloading version yet, but I prolly will. 79p for a song you really want and can't find "elsewhere" is pretty reasonable IMHO.

As for iTunes being memory hungry, well, I can handle that, at least it seems to hand it all back when you close it! Since I've got an iPod, ITunes seems to be a decent enough way to get the songs and playlists on there.

If you got a PC and are thinking of a iPod, give iRiver's new hard disk based stuff the once over. Cheaper and with WMA support and radio built in.

yeah but ipod minis are tiny are look f***ing cool.

Exactly! they are the next Chav accessory (sp?) after the Adidas Baseball Cap and fake silver bracelet :D

Seriously I got a chance to listen to my mates mini iPod and thought the sound was abit tinny compared to my HD-500 Xclef, same headphones, equalizer settings and song so it was a thorough investigation. Still worth getting one for walking to/from the pub but I would'nt get a bigger version of it.

Back in Sussex
Went to do a bit of shopping before I came home at a mall last night.

Popped into a delightfully styled Apple store - first time I've seen the mini iPod in the flesh. What a wonderful device.

"Can I help you?", I was asked.

"Sure - I'll take 4 of these please", I replied thinking 'keep one and sell the other 3 on eBay to make mine effectively free'.

"We don't have any", I was told.

"Does anywhere in this mall?", I asked.

"Nowhere in the country does", the bastard shop assistant (as I now thought of him) told me.

So, with my proverbial tail between my legs I f***ed off to Abercrombie & Fitch.
