heard a recording of yourself talking?

i did tonight, i can't believe what an absolute spaz i sound. apparently it sounds just like me. it sounds different to how it does in my head when i talk.

anyone else heard themselves talk?
did it give you as big a complex as it has given me?

i don't think i am going to talk to people anymore, too embarassing. :)

I've heard you talk, and you do sound like a spaz. In a nice way, though. :)

I remember first hearing my recorded voice as a "junior" at school. I thought there was something wrong with the tape recorder. :dunce:

It still shocks me how much deeper my voice sounds on tape to the one I hear in my head.

For even worse embarrassment of this kind, try going on a "presentation skills" course.

They videoed us giving a speech at the start, then a group of complete strangers tore into every single little mannerism to shreds. I appeared to be trying to disappear into my suit pocket.

I will empathise with that. It was bad enough watching yourself with out all your colleagues joining in. Not only that but my wife insisted I bring home the video so she could have a go as well.

I was a mad teapot. one hand in pocket, one out stretched waving at the audience - horrid.

I haven't heard a recording of myself since I was 13 or so, so I guess my voice has changed since then... but then it was completely different, by a huge margin.
