In recent years i'm finding myself getting more and more bored of attending football matches due to the fact you simply can't do anything anymore other than sit there in your seat and clap, if you attempt to do anymore than that you are threatened with being ejected from the ground.

Is the fun going out of football these days?...

i find it just as enjoyable! especially how we have climbed the leagues since 5 years ago! but i agree, its starting to feel like watching a tennis match at wimbledon!

no air horns, no standing, no singing, no swearing in fact any sign of passion and one of those fat ape looking stewards will have a word!

Got to say that I do find it less enjoyable than I used to, but the one and only reason for that is the lack of terracing. The days of watching the Albion from the North Stand were (from a "fun" point of view rather than success on the pitch point of view) the best times I have had as a supporter.

It's just not the same when you have to sit down all the time.

:(

Withdean is not much fun - especially when it's raining. :nono:

The Millennium Stadium was a good example of how much fun it can be (even without winning - it would have been fantastic). :ascarf:

I'm sure Falmer will be Fun for All :clap2:

I agree with SOT above.

I also object to A) being searched by some twat at a turnstile entrance - as if I am going to bring in a knife!!!

b) filmed constantly by CCTV as if you are a criminal

c) people who bitch at you at away games when you try and sit with your mates in stead of sitting in your "allocated" seat - even when there are thousands of empty seats available

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I think last season brought it home to me that I no longer want to be treated like an animal, banned from Loftus Road for doing NOTHING (later recinded as mistaken identity) and the constant filming and photographing everywhere we go, it gets tiring after a while.

Just last year it was incomprehensable if I missed an away day, reserve game blah blah blah, now I couldnt really care less

Am I the only one who didn't think it was THAT great????? Swindon at home was much better!

I'm not just enjoying football less, I'm getting bored of it.

A mate phoned to offer me a spare ticket for Chelsea the other week and I made up an excuse for not going

last year I watched 'footballer's wives' rather than watch an England friendly on the other side

I doubt that I shall go to more than a dozen Albion games this season, that would unthinkable a few years back.

I miss the terraces soooo much

Nothing to do with how well brighton are doing etc. but yes i do think the fun has largely dissappeard out of football. i still enjoy the game immensley but the way diving, general cheating, acting, rolling around like big girls blouses, and the amount of money earnt by top players who are still ungratefull and always whinge, lack of commitment, tackling from behind, lack of passion and no terraces all take a large chunk of enjoyment away for me. as well as having a family to support and the prices to get into the grounds.

I think it's an age thing. When I was younger (late teens early twenties) I absolutely loved football and I went to all the Albion games home and away. This was in the 'glory years' of the late 70s so as well as the 'craic' there was the added bonus of following a successful side.

As I got older though I did lose some (but not all) enthusiasm for matches. Getting up at four in the morning to get to somewhere like Sunderland no longer seemed so worthwhile, also marriage/children meant I couldn't just keep on doing exactly just what I wanted to do.

Now we go when I can afford it but no, it's not the same. I REALLY miss terraces, I'd do anything to get them back. However I still get a bit of a thrill walking up to Withdean, especially for a night game. My pace quickens (leading to cries of 'Dad, slow down!') I still get a bit of a tingle seeing the lights and being with crowds of other Brighton fans. Nowadays though it's a sort of bittersweet feeling because I can still remember what it was like as a young man going to the Goldstone.

I suppose it's a bit like Christmas, I still enjoy Christmas but not with the same breathless excitement and anticpation I used to have as a child. Football's the same.
