Has Sidwell been offered a contract?

I'd be happy for him to be here, as long as it doesn't mean he's a direct replacement for Stephens!

In previous seasons Albion announced their retained list, as with most other clubs, days after the end of their season.
I think the Football League have to be informed by Friday.

Last season, the deadline for informing the Football League of contract decisions was Saturday May 16th:-

If it is the same timetable this season, the deadline was last Saturday (I am not sure if teams that make the play-offs are given any additional time to submit their decisions).

Just seen David Wheater has been released by Bolton - despite being relegated i'd be in for him like a shot. Only 29, and a solid Championship defender

I confess to being a bit disappointed by some of his performances. Perhaps my expectations were set too high when he came.

Having said that, in our hour of need, when called upon to step up, I thought he delivered. Enough I'd say to earn himself a years contract as a squad player. He appears to want to be here, and a player who knows the set up, is happy and settled and can do a job is certainly a player worth having around.

His performance on Monday was excellent and back up to his desired standards. If his fitness tests show him capable of doing so for another year, with perhaps an option dependent on appearance numbers then why the hell not? Perfect level of experience and a great attitude. Yes please.
