Meopham, Kent.
Certainly a mistake at this stage, but I think the reality is that 4 strikers only will be in the final 23, and barring injury, or showing particularly well in the friendlies that was always likely to be Rooney, Heskey, Defoe and Crouch.

If Heskey gets a knock, and Bent goes in his place, then YES, it's a cock-up.

An unproven striker at international level and isn't close to even 75% fit? Nope. Not a mistake at all.

I dont think he made a mistake.

he probably only wants/needs FOUR strikers in the final 23. It was between Bent and Zamora. Bent got in on golas scored. He will probably miss the final cut, so why include Bobby if Bent is probably not going to make it either.

no

too big a gamble to throw in a striker with ZERO caps into a world cup without any opportunity to see how good he is (at international level)

if he was available for the warm up games, i reckon he'd be in

Our best players always get injured before a big tournament and it's happened again. Beckham, Rooney and, now, Zamora can be added to that list...

But he is proper shit at International level and well behind Rooney and Defoe. Bobby deserved a chance.

He can't be shit, he plays premier league football, he has scored 24 goals for a poor Sunderland side, he was the 2nd highest English goalscorer in the premiership and he's never really been given a crack at the international game. If, as Capello said when he first took over he would go by form and not "names". Then Bent and Zamora both deserve to be there, Heskey baffles me. Defoe has been well off the boil since he scored 5 against Wigan (that was November). At least Jenas isn't in there thats all I can say....

Nope - no mistake much as i love Bobby. Maybe if the world cup was 6 months away he would have been more considered. Rooney, Defoe andCrouch pick themselves on merit by previous England performances. Heskey also does this in my opinino - he was awesome in qualifying and a great foil for Rooney - Those have to be the top 4 strikers...

Capello might even be looking at playing 4-5-1 with two attacking wingers and Gerrard in behind Rooney by the amount of midfielders he's picked. Interesting to see if he tries this in either friendly.

Unlikely Bent would get on anyway as only a back up so no mistake really.

Walcott could always go up front if we had a freak amount of strikers injured but if that happens the world cup campaign will be well over anyway

Not sure if I've missed something on a thread, but I've been reading that Zamora was to be included but will require an operation in the summer and had to pull out.
