I know there are a few Rugby fans on NSC but I decided to put all this in one thread!

I've just returned from the Stoop after seeing Quins make it 13 in a row- still unbeaten this season. But how long can it last? I know the World Cup was good to Quins, but this has shown that they have improved beyond the critics expectations.

Also well done Worthing! Richmond slipped up yesterday to see the raiders top. The Rugby Paper suggests Worthing were lucky but I think it was an angry Taunton local that wrote it!

As for Hove, does anyone know anything about them? I want to hook up and show support for a local team.

As a quins supporter for many years, it is good to see Quins with a fantastic unbeaten run. As you say, they have improved beyond the critics expectations. You could never imagine Quins doing so well a few years ago. I hope they can continue this in the domestic league and the European Cup.

Hove's clubhouse is in Hove Recreation Ground, the little bar they've got looks ok. Can't stand rugby, just walk past it every day.

I know three blokes who have played for Hove over the years...all are borderline alcoholics, advanced misogynists and each exhibit tendencies to bully and mistreat their partners to a frightening degree. Makes me wonder if its learned behaviour or what happens when men submerge themselves in a culture of brawn and brotherhood, then add phenominal amounts of alcohol to the mix.

Just sayin'.......

Come on without, come on within you ain't seen nothing like the mighty quins !
Pleased for Worthing, one of my old coaches from Crawley is assistant head coach down there.
And Hove seem to go from strength to strength, I think they get six sides out these days, in comparrison Crawley get one.
Me.....I just play vets now, I really do miss playing competitive rugby, the minds still there, but my body's f***ed !!

Bath not doing so well. Stephen Donald missed a few kicks on Friday night, following a strong debut. Irish look worryingly good this year.

Am I the only person that thinks that rugby has no place in Brighton and Hove?

yes

Irish are having another one of "them" seasons. the wheels seem to have come off the rails at the moment. We are playing well, but lacking a decent motivator in the side.

Having dicked the wasps, we have a solid run coming up and a European outing on the 10th to racing Metro in France.

Two games at the Maj coming up...brighton on the 26th and Exeter Chiefs on the 27th, one sat in the stand being made to feel like a criminal, the second sat in the stands with pint in hand enjoying organised violence.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you translate this into something I might be able to understand. Who are the Irish and who is 'we?'

Not that I have seen, however I usually get my Sister to sort tickets because she actually lives in Bath. Probably best looking at Bath Rugby's website.

A simple translation will have sufficed. Or do you prefer the coded speak as you feel it makes you look clever?

Bloody plastics supporting their glory teams *mumble grumble*. I'd love to see a combined Brighton and Hove rubgy team in the Prem, but I don't know where the ground would be, although the Amex is barely used on Saturdays ...

That sounds like you're a lifer but I'm sure I read it on NSC when you started supporting them, which can only have been a few seasons ago.

Since being in the West Country I've been saying I would go along to a professional rugby game because, like most on here, I've been to a zillion Albion games home and away and am quite interested to sample an atmosphere were there is no segregation, lots of beer and no animosity between rival supporters. I've been here nearly 11 years now I think and I've still not made it to a game.

(I did make a 6 Nations game with Arthur last year - quite a good crack, but give me football any day please.)

always surprised me that there isn't an even reletively successful rugby side in brighton & hove

i could see them getting fairly big crowds if they were high up enough

I'm losing my Dubai Sevens virginity on Friday. Am very anti-rugby usually and have shied away from corporate invites in the past but this time I'm heading along with a multi-national (Aus, Yarpies, Kiwis, Scots, English) group of heavy drinkers from (dry) Riyadh, there for the drink, whom are far from the stereotypical twatty Engligh Rugby Pricks. You never know I may end up converted...

I'm not. There does not seem to be much interest in rugby in Brighton.

i'm not particularly into rugby (in fact hardly at all), but i disagree with you slightly there.......plus what makes worthing a 'rugby town' but not brighton?!

i don't know much about the 'core demographic' that is into rugby union, but worthing seem to be a fairly successful club at the moment, getting half decent crowds, but with a much smaller potential fan base than brighton & hove......why is this?

i just find it weird that we have cricket and football teams in the city that get reasonable levels of support.......but two rugby teams that seem to be watched by one man and his dog

i'm sure that if we had a fairly successful rugby team here they'd get decent support
