Gus's comments RE: A "Special" Player?

Sorry it's another one of these threads but Gus's comments today were:
"We need a striker and that is our main target but if someone else comes up who is special then that is a unique opportunity and you can’t say no."

Then I read that Lukaku's loan to Stoke from Chelsea has fallen down because of Premier League rules. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14716748.stm)

I have no substance or source I am just thinking wouldn't it be awesome if this was the unique opportunity that Gus is talking about. Chelsea obviously want to loan him out for first team football and now can see this can't happen to another Premier League team. If they want him to get used to the english game....who better than the team at the top of the next division??

a £20 million player in the championship???

if he's not allowed to be loaned to a prem club, and Chelsea want to expose him to the English game, then Yes.... the Championship is the 5th largest league in Europe and bigger than the Belgian league. Poyet, chelsea legend, whose top of the table team play slick passing footie....... its possible, if still unlikely

Who's to say it's a striker ? Gus has already stated he is after a striker he didn't say this special player will be.

Boyd would cost to much i feel but Daniel Powell fits the bill. Strong tall attacking midfielder.

I would assume Chelsea would manage most of his salary if it did happen,... but can you imagine all the 'hand-wringers' in this league bleating about buying our way to the top blah blah blah...... I think it almost impossible to believe.

That would be a quite unbelievable move.

As has been mentioned, Chelsea clearly want to loan him out to play competitive games rather than get the odd game here and tehre with them. If Premier League dictate that he can't go on loan within the Premier, then we ARE the next club in line. It's not as if Chelsea need to wait for someone to pay a certain price for his loan contract or even meet a substantial proportion of his wages.

It's therefore possible, but I do think it's still highly unlikely. I would literally jizz my pants if it happened.

As always, read the quotes. Not the journalist's spin on it. Gus didn't say we are going to sign a special player, just that we would if he was offered one.

I cant see this. It sounds from Gus' comments that we almost have the striker deal tied up, that cant be him because Gus said this yesterday. So if that is the case, surely we wouldn't go for another striker? Unless we cancelled the other deal, but I cant see us doing that.

I think commander what he means is, we are after a player who is probably around our level, like Rhodes, Paynter, Bednar etc...... but if someone very special like Lukaku was available to us on loan, then it would be impossible to say No

Where is everyone getting that Chelsea want to loan Lukaku out? Is it just because Stoke have made a bid? He played for them on Saturday so would assume he will get plenty of game time for the first team that way?
